Our English Language Arts afternoon block consists of reading and writing. When our daily focus is reading, we may spend time writing about our reading. When our daily focus is a writing assignment, we will spend some time with independent reading.

Every afternoon will have a silent reading time. This is an opportunity for the students to read independent "just right" books. These books can be borrowed from our classroom library, brought from home, or borrowed from the school or town libraries. There will be many times where students will be reading in a Book Club and will be assigned a certain book and number of pages to read each day.
